Help Article | How to add a WhatsApp Business account to an Instagram Profile
- A Professional account for your business on Instagram.
- An account on the WhatsApp Business app.
- The latest versions of the mobile apps.
- Open the WhatsApp Business app.
- On Android, tap More options. On iPhone, tap Settings.
- Tap Business tools > Facebook & Instagram.
- Tap Instagram > Continue. This will open the Instagram login page.
- Enter the login information for your Instagram account. Tap Log In. You can also tap Continue with Facebook to log in using your Facebook account.
- If you already have a Professional Account on Instagram, continue to the next step. If you don’t have a Professional Account, you’ll need to update your account type.
- Tap Next.
- Select Business or Creator. Then, tap Next > Next > Next.
- Confirm your account information. Tap Add > Back to WhatsApp.
- Open the WhatsApp Business app.
- On Android, tap More options. On iPhone, tap Settings.
- Tap Business tools > Facebook & Instagram.
- Tap your linked Instagram account > Remove WhatsApp > REMOVE.
- Not all Instagram business categories are supported by the WhatsApp Business app. If you see an error message that says “Your Instagram business category isn’t supported on WhatsApp,” you’ll need to change your Instagram business category to comply with the WhatsApp Commerce Policy to successfully link your accounts.
- In order to link your accounts, WhatsApp shares the following information with Facebook:
- Your WhatsApp business category is used to set your Professional business category on Instagram if you don’t have a Professional Account on Instagram. If you already have a Professional Account on Instagram, your WhatsApp Business category isn’t shared.
- Your WhatsApp Business phone number is used to enable customers to message you on WhatsApp from your Instagram profile.
